Common questions about the Gibraltar AI Awards programme

Anyone can nominate a Gibraltar-based company, project, or individual. Self-nominations are welcome. The nominee must have a significant presence in Gibraltar and the AI work must have been conducted primarily in or from Gibraltar.
Nominations for the 2026 awards open in June and close in September. Winners are announced at the Gibraltar AI Futures Conference in January 2027. Late nominations may be considered at the judges' discretion.
An independent panel of 7 judges comprising GFSC representatives, University of Gibraltar academics, international AI experts, and previous award winners. Judges must declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from relevant categories.
No, nominations are completely free. There is no entry fee for any category. Winners receive a trophy, certificate, and press coverage. The awards ceremony is funded by sponsors and the Gibraltar AI Initiative.
Yes, provided the AI work being nominated was substantially developed or deployed in Gibraltar. The company must have at least 3 full-time employees based in Gibraltar and be registered with the GFSC or Companies House.
Nominations are shortlisted by the judging panel based on published criteria. Finalists present to the full panel in November. Winners are selected by majority vote with scoring across innovation, impact, compliance, and sustainability dimensions.
